Aquatics Manager

  • Responsible for fulfilling the Waterpark MOD duties as specified in the MOD job description.

  • Works to maintain an efficient, cooperative atmosphere among staff members.
  • Maintains a general knowledge of the entire resort operation.
  • Projects a positive public relations image to staff and guest.
  • Has working knowledge of Great Wolf Lodge emergency procedures, administers and coordinates emergency first aid as necessary, as well as, documenting incidents involving guests and staff.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Assists other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by the Waterpark Director.
  • Position requires at least 45 hours per week.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors schedules for waterpark operation.
  • Interfaces with the Employee Relations department to communicate staffing needs and assist in the hiring process utilizing ER procedures.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and maintaining Pack Members for the department. Anticipate turnover to maintain proper staffing levels.
  • Coordinates the documentation of coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Assists the Aquatics Director in planning and reviewing compensation actions.
  • Create and maintain filing system for Pack Member related activity.
  • Assist management team to permit advancement for those persons qualified and interested in career development.
  • Instructs Ellis Lifeguard training and certification, as needed.
  • Assists with in-service trainings throughout the year.
  • Works to maintain an efficient, cooperative atmosphere among staff members.
  • Maintains a general knowledge of the entire resort operation.
  • Projects a positive public relations image to staff and guest.
  • Attends meetings as required. Assists other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Create and initiate any employee incentive programs to help increase employee morale.

  • College degree preferred.
  • Ability to create and maintain documents with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • At least 2 years of experience in supervising employees.
  • Complete GWR Aquatics Manager Training Program
  • Possess E&A ILTP license, E&A Basic Leadership Training license
  • Willing and able to acquire E&A Instructor license
  • EMT or medical background in first aid, CPR, and AED.
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or equivalent preferable


  • Swim 50 yards in 4 ft. of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick at bottom of water.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a humid, warm environment and be immersed in water for extended periods of time
  • Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs and up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
