Manager, Financial Reporting

Job Summary: This role is in the Chicago-based Corporate Accounting team with responsibilities that include overseeing Financial Reporting staff, reviewing and assisting in the preparation of internal and external financial statements; reviewing and preparing financial statement disclosures; analyzing and recording non-recurring or technically complex business transactions; assisting in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of accounting policies and procedures; and assisting with various accounting projects.

  • Managing and developing the Financial Reporting staff in a very dynamic environment
  • Reviewing and/or assisting with the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual consolidated financial statements and complete supporting analysis and reports for all the various reporting units
  • Leading/assisting in the preparation of non-recurring or technically complex accounting transaction memos and the subsequent review/preparation of the corresponding journal entries including but not limited to debt accounting scenarios
  • Assist with training the team on the company's application of technical accounting positions taken
  • Leading/assisting on projects needed to advance the Financial Reporting department
  • Leading/assisting on adoption of new accounting pronouncements including Revenue Reconciliation, Lease Accounting, etc.
  • Leading/assisting in the coordination with the External Audit firm and experts hired to assist with technical accounting assistance and positions
  • Assist with the review and preparation of establishing, implementing and documenting policies and procedures
  • Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA certification required
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience; a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience is ideal
  • SOX / Internal Control knowledge is a plus; IPO readiness and implementation / IFRS readiness and implementation is also a plus
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an attention to detail with ability to complete tasks with high level of accuracy
  • Proficient in using accounting software and highly skilled in Microsoft Excel -- macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables
  • High level of organization and ability to manage a staff to meet multiple deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
